Chem Club’s fourth EP titled Normal Condition by Brooklyn based duo SEER, melds the atmospheric and distorted into a perfectly twisted mind bender of a release. The title track on the A1 combines shifty pads, varied kick patterns and fuzzy vocals before opening up with a contagious lead reminiscent of Holland’s West Coast sound. The A2, In the Same Way, is a slow burner that uses a mid-range bass to carry the track while the kick stomps along and thick pads pan in and out. Perfect for an opening set. The B1, They Bow to the Unknown, changes it up by opening with a broken kick snare pattern. A melodic pad then leads the way and makes for a colorful soundscape. The final track, This Lethargy, has a monster of a bassline that playfully plows forward while dark strings maintain the airy element that is found throughout this record. All tracks were recorded live in one improvisational take.
